Kavanagh Trust Structure
The Kavanagh Educational Trust is governed by five Trustees, each representing one of the five family branches descended from the children of William J. Kavanagh and Rose L. Kavanagh. This structure was established in the Trust Agreement after March 31, 2003, to ensure balanced family representation in decision-making.

Trustees serve by majority vote on most matters and meet at least annually. Beneficiaries are encouraged to contact their branch Trustee for questions about eligibility, distributions, or other trust matters.
Current Trustees by Family Branch
Class A: Eileen Kavanagh Schumaker – Descendants of Joseph J. Kavanagh
Eileen is a member of the Joseph J. Kavanagh branch of the Kavanagh family and is one of the original trustees for the Kavanagh Education Trust. She is the second of five children of Joseph and Nancy Kavanagh. Joe Kavanagh was the oldest of the six children of William J. and Rosetta L. Kavanagh.

Eileen and Paul Schumaker have been married for 50 years and have three beautiful daughters and enjoy being with their seven grandchildren. They live in Hilliard, Ohio a suburb of Columbus.

Class B: Theodore Monnin – Descendants of Marie A. Monnin
Theodore is a proud member of the Marie A. Monnin branch of the Kavanagh family and has served as Class B Trustee since January 1, 2026.
​
He is the son of Joseph and Deborah Monnin, grandchild of Marie A Monnin and Lloyd Monnin, and great-grandchild of William J. Kavanagh and Rose L. Kavanagh.

Theodore utilized educational distributions from the Kavanagh Educational Trust to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Miami University (Ohio), graduating in 2014.
He currently works in Department of Defense Cybersecurity in Dayton, Ohio, where he helps protect mission critical Air Force systems and assets. Theodore is married to Tabitha, and together they have two young sons: Quinn and Grant.

Class C: Tyler Uphaus – Descendants of Monica R. Uphaus
Tyler Uphaus is a proud member of the Monica Uphaus branch of the Kavanagh family and has served as a Class C Trustee since January 1, 2025.
​
He is the son of William and Linda Uphaus, the grandson of Charles and Monica Uphaus, and the great-grandson of William J. Kavanagh and Rose L. Kavanagh.
Tyler utilized educational distributions from the Kavanagh Educational Trust to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Finance, completing his undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University in 2011. He later earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Michigan–Dearborn in 2015.
Professionally, Tyler works as a Business Broker with Transworld Business Advisors in Novi, Michigan, where he advises business owners on valuation, growth strategies, and successful ownership transitions. He is married to his wife, Chelsea Uphaus, and together they have three sons: Landon, Hunter, and Bentley.

Class D: Nate Miller – Descendants of Lloyd R. Kavanagh
Nathan is a proud member of the Lloyd Kavanagh branch of the Kavanagh family and has served as Class D Trustee since January 1, 2019.
He is the son of Scott and Kathy Miller, grandchild of Lloyd Kavanagh, and great-grandchild of William and Rose Kavanagh.
Nathan utilized educational distributions from the Kavanagh Educational Trust to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University. Guided by a strong belief in the value of lifelong learning, he later earned his MBA from Indiana University Kokomo while working full-time.
Nathan places a high priority on family life and heritage. He is married to Lindsey, and together they have two children, Veda and Pepper. Their family also includes three dogs: Rascal, Max, and Loki.
Professionally, he serves as a Senior Process Engineer in the EV battery manufacturing industry, where he applies his technical expertise to the development and scaling of sustainable energy solutions.

Class E: Dr. Thomas W. Francis Jr., Esq. (T.J.) – Descendants of Viola M. (Kavanagh) Francis
T.J. is a proud member of the Viola (Kavanagh) Francis branch of the Kavanagh family and has served as Class E Trustee since January 1, 2024.
​
He is the son of Thomas W. Francis Sr., grandchild of William and Viola Francis.
T.J. utilized educational distributions from the Kavanagh Educational Trust to earn his Master's Degree in Divinity from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2009 and a Doctor of Ministry Degree in 2012. Additionally, T.J. has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Temple Baptist College, a Bachelor of Science degree from Union University, a Master of Theology Degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Juris Doctorate degree from Belmont University College of Law.

He currently works for the State of Florida as an attorney. Additionally, he is the Lead Pastor and Elder at Christ the King Baptist Church in Plant City, Florida.
T.J. is married to Jamie, and they have seven children (Colton, Keenan, Cadin, Kennedy, Calvin, Kiah, and Kedric) and one grandchild (Emory).
